Job overview


The post holder will be responsible for assisting with meeting both the patients and nurses needs in Recovery, by carrying out a variety of designated tasks, including direct patient care, in support of and under the supervision of a registered nurse.

The post holder will be primarily based at one campus but some cross site working will be expected.

There is an expectation to work as an effective member of the multi
- disciplinary team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities


Assisting with meeting the comfort and hygiene needs of patients which will include: washing/ bathing, oral care, escorting to the toileting, assisting with bed pans/ commodes, making beds, assisting with dressing and dealing with dirty linen in accordance with procedures.

Maintain good communication with other staff, patients and visitors including answering the telephone is a professional and courteous manner. Maintain up to date knowledge of changes in policies and procedures relevant to this post. maintenance of unit stock and environment. Ensure all training are up to date. Uses initiative in planning daily and weekly routines.

Qualifications:

Essential criteria

  • Evidence of previous experience in an acute health care setting.
Desirable criteria

  • NVQ in health care.
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrate experience of dealing with Trust software including, Medway, Notis, Bluespier.
Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience of dealing with patients with complex needs.

Skills:

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills, computer literacy.
Desirable criteria

  • Demonstration of team working and ability to work within a team.

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
