The CRUK Beatson Institute is a cancer research institute, situated in Glasgow with approximately 250 researchers split across 30 research groups consisting of PIs, postdoctoral scientists, PhD students and scientific officers.

It is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres, supporting cutting-edge work into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development.

As well as core support from Cancer Research UK, the Institute also receives an additional third of its total income from external grants and industry collaborations.

It has an excellent reputation for fundamental cancer research, including world-class metabolism studies and renowned in vivo modelling of tumour growth and metastasis.

Position Outline


An exciting position has arisen within our Research Management team to provide a range of services, advice and support to our research scientists.


Reporting to the Head of Research Management, the key objectives of this role will be to help facilitate many of the Research Management team's key activities, including the organisation of scientific committees and reviews, coordination of the PhD student programme as well as reporting on research outputs.

In addition, the role will provide a great opportunity to assist with, and help shape, the Institute's external communications, including its website and social media channels.


A degree in a scientific or media/communications discipline is essential as well as excellent communication skills, organisational skills and a love of writing.

A good understanding of developments in the biosciences would be an advantage, as would some experience in web editing and the use of social media platforms.
