Department Description

Today's cross-border restructuring and insolvency work calls for lawyers skilled in providing bold and commercial solutions. They also need sharp technical skills to be able to guide clients through the complexities of this market. We have those skills.

Our restructuring and insolvency lawyers advise all stakeholders in restructuring and insolvency cases. From our global platform, we provide pragmatic, business-focused advice to creditors, multinational companies, and insolvency administrators. We also advise pension trustees, governmental and quasi-governmental bodies, and stressed financial institutions.

We understand the legal, political, and business landscapes involved when a company gets into financial difficulties. And we have a strong track record of providing innovative solutions.

Over-leveraged balance sheets are an issue for creditors as well as borrowers. We have acted on some of the largest loan portfolio transactions in the market, both buy-side and sell-side. We also advise clients on secondary debt trading and distressed investment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities


Technical Ability:

  • Understanding of legal principles of own practice area, along with a working knowledge of other practice areas.
  • Has project management responsibility, ensuring timely delivery to high quality standards.
  • Stays aware of legal developments affecting any specialist areas and regularly attends appropriate training sessions.

Client Focus:

  • Has good working relationships with clients.
  • Has a good understanding of client, the sector and the associated risks and opportunities.
  • Actively works to develop and strengthen new client relationships

Team Work & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Acts as a source of advice to others, sharing knowledge and expertise.
  • Has strong relationships and profile amongst senior colleagues.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.

Firm Mindedness:

  • Understands the industry and market in which the practice stream and clients operate.
  • Contributes to the management of the group/practice area by understanding the areas of specialism, the firm's capabilities and business plan.
  • Takes an active role in managing the firm's reputation both in and out of work.
  • Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location or services._
