Description

This is a busy Specialised Pain service which has a fully integrated multidisciplinary service which specializes in complex adult patient pain management both for in patients and outpatients within both primary and secondary care.

We have greater than 2000 new patients referred per year and deliver a wide range of Multidisciplinary therapies for musculoskeletal and neuropathic pain.

We are the only UK approved Centre for the investigation and diagnosis of neuropathic pain by QST and have an active research unit here under the leadership of Professor Andrew Rice.

We are a truly integrated multidisciplinary pain service with 5 ESP's, 5 psychologists, 6 specialist nurses, a pharmacist, and Advanced pain trainees.

We are also involved with education of anaesthetic trainees at intermediate and Higher level as well as medical students.

We offer neuromoduation therapies including spinal cord stimulator therapy.

We have established a clinically networked pain centre incorporating the Joint site at the Marsden Hospital and the Brompton Hospital.

In addition to this we have established Spinal pathways across the community services and Imperial Hospitals NHS trust.

We have expertise in the management of complex patients offer a wide range of standard and highly specialized treatments for neuropathic pain.

We have also provided specialised pain services for military Veterans.

The successful post holder will build upon the established and nationally recognised specialty services at the Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust.

The post will focus on multidisciplinary delivery of care with a focus on interventional pain management.

There is an expectation that the complex pain patient group management will be further developed involving better education, management of patients with long term pain conditions.

Where appropriate services will be delivered according to best practice guidelines as outlined by NICE, the British Pain society or IASP amongst other groups.

Should have additional skill sets e.g. able to undertake QST diagnostics (appropriately trained)
