University Hospitals Sussex is one of the biggest acute Trusts in the UK.

The Trust has an ambitious and challenging Efficiency and Improvement Programme which requires us to continuously develop the way services are delivered to further enhance patient experience, quality of care and outcomes and ensure the Trust becomes financially sustainable.

We will be focusing on standardising what we do, eliminating waste, increasing productivity, improving our processes and workforce redesign.


If you are motivated by this agenda and have a proven record for delivering the dual goals of service and cost improvement we look forward to hearing from you.

You will be an experienced Business Partner (ideally with acute hospital operational experience), with exceptional governance skills and used to influencing and delivering change in a complex environment.

You will be highly motivated, personable and credible and be confident to work on different aspects of the Programme and with the level of autonomy appropriate to your grade.

You will be a strong team player and will value the importance of fostering effective relationships and achieving results in partnership with others.

You will be ready for a new challenge in a fast paced organisation and committed to helping the Trust deliver its vision


Working closely with operational and corporate teams and using project management (PM) and service improvement skills to scope, develop and support delivery of workstreams that contribute towards the Trust's annual Efficiency Programme.


The Senior Business Partner is expected to lead a large clinical or corporate division in its efficiency programme lifecycle, whilst at the same time providing oversight to the support to a smaller division.

The post-holder will be initially aligned to specific divisions or the workforce efficiency programme (one with direct responsibility and a second with oversight).


They will work closely with other PMO Business Partners and the Trust's leadership teams, utilising project management skills to enable delivery of the divisional workstream outcomes within agreed quality, cost and time parameters.

The Efficiency Programme traditionally comprises a mix of tactical and strategic pay and non-pay cost-saving actions, alongside income generation.
