Role and Responsibilities
To ensure the correct implementation of TMPs and installation of traffic equipment, and to liaise and work with other staff to ensure all event equipment is prepared and available for use in line with the planning and event schedules. To act as a member of a cutting team with the prime responsibility of carrying out ground-based duties and assisting the climbers and Team Leader generally in carrying out all designated jobs in an efficient, safe and effective manner.
1) Basic Duties
To support and contribute to the ongoing development of the Traffic Management (TM) function for the Company and to ensure that events are delivered to the Client's specification, complying with company procedures at all times
To liaise with other staff to ensure that the TM planning and installation is carried out in accordance with the event timelines
Ensuring that Company property and equipment maintenance is carried out to a high level and in a timely manner
Keep abreast of TM legislation and operational changes required for the role
To ensure that all further responsibilities as directed by Management are carried out to the best of your ability with the utmost diligence at all times
To perform ground-based duties (cutting, chipping etc.) as well as lift platform work (if qualified) in support of the climbers and any other duties as directed by your Team Leader or designated supervisor.
To assist the Team Leader in the deployment of work area safety measures (e.g. cones, signage etc.) consistent with your training.
To assist with driving, towing, backing, dumping and parking duties as requested by your Team Leader and far as your qualifications permit.
Liaise with the Traffic Management team
Install traffic lights, Chapter 8 and any other equipment, and as otherwise instructed
Undertake other general tasks as required (e.g. filling sand bags, cleaning equipment)
Assist in ensuring smooth traffic flow
Ensure all equipment is used and positioned correctly (e.g. do not block junction visibility with signs, do not obstruct view of other signs), is clean and looks smart.
Adhere to all H&S policies and use TM and any other qualifications (NHSS, CPC, HGV)
Load and unload equipment carefully, ensuring that equipment is not damaged.
Carry out any other traffic management / event duties as requested
Drive company vehicles in accordance with site speed limits as required
Have excellent customer service skills. This role is public facing and we are the first and last impression a customer will receive.
2) On Site
Ensure TM method statements and dynamic risk assessments are completed and carried out in accordance with relevant legislation
Assist with site set up, TM prep, clearance etcensuring staff and equipment are managed and dispatched as needed
Ensure all TM duties are implemented as required by the TMP.
Oversee installation of temporary event signage, traffic lights and other equipment as required and ensure complete within the agreed timescale.
Quality control of staff, equipment and customer / client service
Manage any changes as necessary due to weather etcand inform staff of procedural changes
Ensure all H&S policies are adhered to at all times including NHSS and Safety at Street Works and Road Works Code of Practice / Chapter 8.
3) Health & Safety
To ensure that you work to the highest H&S standards including:
Ensuring that you only carry out tasks for which you are suitably qualified.
Ensure you learn, understand and adhere to all industry safety rules and Hi-Line's specific H&S requirements as contained within the H&S policy and other documentation/training provided to you.
Ensuring that before commencing any job a Risk Assessment is diligently and thoughtfully completed (by you for Training purposes if your Team Leader requests) for very job and that you understand the risks identified and discussed and that you sign off the RA before work commences.
To refer to your Team Leader or Manager if you have any doubts at all about any H&S aspects - either in relation to the job itself or techniques proposed or Team members involved or vehicles/equipment to be deployed or potential dangers to third parties.
Ensure all H&S policies are adhered to onsite
