Service Care Construction are currently recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in Merseyside who require a Caretaker to join their team on a temporary basis.

Previous experience within a similar role is essential.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Caretaker will include but not be limited to the:

  • Opening and closing of the premises at times required by the Adult Learning Service.
  • Ensuring proper use of premises and resources by tenants.
  • Undertaking regular patrols for intruders, or to inspect for effects of vandalism, uncovered grids, broken glass inside and outside building and in playground or grassed areas and, where glass is identified, corrective action or removal as required.
  • Conducting weekly fire alarm and safety equipment check and reporting any faults and taking all precautions against risk of fire.
  • Checking all security, alarm and surveillance equipment resetting alarms whenever and wherever possible and reporting faults to alarm companies.
  • Responsible for all equipment and furniture and fittings maintenance.
  • Monitoring the state of repair of desks, chairs, worksurfaces, chalkboards cupboards, bookcases and shelving units and reporting serious faults.
  • Undertaking basic repairs to such equipment, and sanding and sealing desktops and work surfaces.
  • Drilling holes in walls and hanging pin boards, wallboards, and bookshelves.
  • Changing clock batteries & correcting the time indicated on all clocks as required.
  • Fixing curtain rails, putting hooks on curtains, and hanging curtains up to a height of eleven feet.
  • Undertaking general portering duties, including moving furniture for the setting up of classrooms and halls for classes assemblies, performances, and meetings; and moving equipment from and to strong rooms, including computers, television sets, video recorders,overhead projectors, sewing machines etc., except where the transfer of such equipment is the responsibility of an audiovisual technician.

  • It is expected the Site Manager will participate fully in:
  • Appropriately identified and authorised staff development
  • Training opportunities which are made available
  • The PR&D process
  • Caretaking or Site Manager experience.
  • Work alone and as part of a team.
  • Work to deadlines.
  • To be able to be the main key holder on occasions and attend to rapid response "call outs" outside normal working hours
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Health and Safety procedures including COSHH
  • Manual Handling
  • Willingness to develop ICT knowledge.
