As the Liberty Mutual Global Risk Solutions (GRS) Reinsurance ("LM Re') Exposure Management Officer, you will play a critical role in overseeing Liberty's risk exposures, across a broad range of commercial property and specialty reinsurance products, globally.


You will collaborate closely with the broader GRS Risk team on robust, innovative analytics and interpretation of complex exposure data to provide expert evaluation of and actionable insight on potential risks and their financial implications, ultimately contributing to a highly profitable and optimized portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate with the GRS Insurance Risk teams and the LM Re Chief Underwriting Officer ('CUO') to increase transparency, understanding, and proactive management of material accumulation scenarios across all products to inform critical business decisions.
  • Coordinate with the GRS Insurance Risk teams to deliver highquality, comprehensive, and timely exposure analysis and insights into the LM Re aggregate insurance risk profile, globally, including specifically views of natural and manmade catastrophe risk accumulations, and the potential clash across different underwriting risk types.
  • Advise LM Re underwriting management with defining underwriting appetite and establishing exposure management standards for the business unit, in the context of the broader GRS risk appetite and tolerances,
  • Monitor developments in the LM Re Insurance Risk Profile and significant sources of risk. Provide robust analysis of change in aggregate exposure positions across all classes to enable both monitoring against established limits and to optimize deployment of available risk capacity.
  • Coordinate with the GRS Insurance Risk Leaders to maintain a consistent and robust exposure management and monitoring process across all underwriting classes. Assist the GRS Insurance Risk Leaders with the development, update and analysis of relevant deterministic scenarios ('RDSs') and other 'Views of Risk' to reflect GRS and LM Re best estimate of potential losses from manmade catastrophes.
  • Prepare material for the LM Re Underwriting Committee, and contribute to material for GRS Enterprise Risk Management Committee, and Corporate Catastrophe Risk Committee; present at these Committees as required.
  • Initiate, manage and participate in projects specifically related to exposure management (e.g. model evaluation) or relating more generally to exposure management issues (e.g. process enhancements, techniques for nonmodelled lines of business) to continue to enhance LM Re Exposure Management capabilities.
  • Support the GRS Insurance Risk Leaders with coordination of the LM Re event response process to assess the potential gross and net losses arising from major loss events (in conjunction with GRS Cat Event Response processes); specific to LM Re and, where relevant, the international legal entities.
  • Provide insight and challenge within the LM Re Product and Business Planning processes particularly in relation to the underwriting risk profile development and trends to support and inform portfolio steering strategies.
  • Contribute to evaluation of external reinsurance/retrocession program alternatives though analysis of impact on the LM Re risk profile.
  • Assist in the understanding and management of new and emerging risk areas and evaluation of the potential impact on the LM Re risk profile.
  • Be a single point of contact for the segment CUO for ERM related reporting to the LM Re segment Underwriting / ERM Committee
  • Liaise with relevant and associated stakeholders to establish, support, and maintain strong business relationships and organizational effectiveness.
  • Participate in adhoc initiatives as needed to support the execution of GRS Risk mandate and priorities.
