The Defra Group Security function within DDTS is recruiting a Physical Security Officer to join their team on a permanent basis.
The role will prepare Operational Requirements and advise on physical security controls to ensure that we comply with legislation and regulation, including developing counter terrorism procedures for all sites and a risk-based annual plan of physical security.
The role will work across boundaries to influence and build strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholder groups including Defra group Property and Arm's Length Bodies.

Responsibilities
- You will be responsible to the Physical Security Lead for developing physical security policies and imputing to wider Defra group Security policies.
- Utilising your understanding of physical security principles, you will be comfortable working with ambiguity and defining a clear direction from a wide variety of options.
- You will have strong interpersonal skills, including communication and influencing and experience in working alongside contracted guard force providers.
- Merging complex and diverse workload, liaising with multiple teams to complete tasks.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in physical security analysis and assessment including threat identification, risk assessment, evaluation of physical security controls and assessment against government and industry standards.
- Experience in the oversight of physical security in a government or large business setting.
- You will be able to demonstrate initiative, leadership and tenacity and experience of providing security across multiple sites.
- Ability to form excellent relationships within your department and with the wider security community including teams and the UK Intelligence Community.
- Experience in drafting and reviewing policies for large commercial organisations or with government.
- Ability to analyse complex information in order to provide the appropriate expert advice and guidance.
- Perform effectively to deadlines, maintaining focus in challenging situations and adapting to find solutions that meet the needs of stakeholders.
- Ability to take a crossgovernment approach, considering the impact of your decisions in the broadest of settings.
