DETAILED INFORMATION


As a Nursery Nurse/Early Years Practitioner, you will play a vital part in providing high-quality care and education to children in their early years.

You will work closely with a team of professionals to create a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes children's physical, emotional, and intellectual development.

You will be required to demonstrate the seven areas of child development and effective care in your activities planning and deliveries with deep understanding of child led learning.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe, secure, and stimulating environment for children in the nursery.
  • Plan and implement ageappropriate activities and experiences that promote children's learning and development in line with EYFS curriculum.
  • Support children's personal, social, and emotional wellbeing through nurturing relationships and positive behavior management.
  • Monitor and assess children's progress, maintaining accurate records and providing feedback to parents or guardians.
  • Collaborate with parents and guardians to understand and meet the individual needs of each child.
  • Ensure the provision of healthy meals, snacks, and appropriate rest periods for children.
  • Promote positive communication and interaction among children, staff, and parents.
  • Maintain a clean and organized learning environment, including the supervision and cleaning of toys, equipment, and facilities.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines, including risk assessments and emergency procedures.
  • Continuously engage in professional development activities to stay updated with best practices in early years education.

Knowledge and experience

Essential criteria

  • Previous experience working in an early years setting, such as a nursery, preschool, or daycare. Experience in planning & implementing activities, observing and assessing children's progress as well as working collaboratively with parents and colleagues.
  • Good understanding of child development principles, health and safety regulations, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to engage with children, parents, and colleagues. The ability to listen actively, provide clear instructions, and communicate sensitively and empathetically.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances, handle multiple tasks, and respond to the individual needs and interests of children. Patience and understanding when supporting children's emotional, social, and behavioural development.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging and stimulating activities that foster curiosity, imagination, and learning. Utilizing available resources effectively to enhance the learning environment.
  • Good organizational skills to plan activities, manage resources, and maintain accurate records. Efficient time management to balance competing demands and meet deadlines.

  • Creativity and resourcefulness in planning and delivering engaging and stimulating activities to young children.

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Level 3 in Early Years (Minimum)
  • Additional certifications, such as Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene, or Safeguarding, are advantageous but training will be provided.
  • Minimum of 1year EYFS experience
Desirable criteria

  • 2 years experience is desirable.
