Description

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Accredited Clinical Coder to join our small but very efficient Coding Team.

Our Clinical Coders provide a highly valued service to all departments across Homerton Healthcare.


You will act as an expert specialist in clinical coding and be able to advise on complex coding queries to other departments across the trust.

You will provide accurate information to support HRGs (Health Resource Groups) to facilitate maximisation of trust income through the PbR (Payment by Results) process.

You will need an excellent understanding of ICD 10 & OPCS 4

As a Senior Clinical Coder you will be responsible for coding a multiple of specialities within the Trust.

You will work as part of a team and keep to very tight deadlines, our coding department always achieves 100% by the 12th of every month.

As a band 6 Senior Coder you must be ACC (Accredited Clinical Coder) you will bring your expertise & knowledge of ICD 10 classifications and OPCS 4.10, have excellent communication skills both written and verbal, able to organise and prioritise your own workload, keep your coding skills up to date through regular attention to all coding instruction manuals and Delen.


Using EPR as the main source of documentation undertake abstraction, analysis and interpretation of complex clinical data so that every specialty is coded 100% for all finished consultant episodes (fces) making sure you follow the conventions of ICD10 and OPCS 4 and /or other terminologies as required by the Trust.


Input encoded clinical data onto the Trust's patientadmiration system using 3M Medicodeencoding software, ensure the accuracy standards are in line with thedefinition'scontained in the Trusts Clinical Coding Policy & procedure manual, be responsible for own workload and to supervise/mentor more junior coders, work within the team useunitiveto ensure that the deadline/freeze dates are met 100% every month.
