Scope / Purpose of Role
The Hygiene Shift Leader is responsible for supporting the Nightshift Hygiene Manager and leading the Nightshift Team.
They will manage the activities of the Nightshift Hygiene Team, ensuring that hygiene standards are delivered on time and in full, through careful management.
The Hygiene Shift Leader has responsibility for ensuring company rules are enforced, particularly Health and Safety practices, Food Safety rules, Quality Specifications such as Safe Operating Procedures and Cleaning Instruction Cards.

Nightshift Team Leaders

Hygiene Team, Engineering Team, Technical Team, Production Team
Key Result Areas
Hygiene
- Responsible for organising cleaning activities for the nightshift
- To provide key performance indicator data as require and comply with all internal and external audit requirements
- To support the nightshift manager to create and maintain detailed cleaning instructions and schedules
- To conduct compliance audits / inspections of internal hygiene standards and documentation
- To provide training and awareness for nightshift hygiene team members and maintain records
People
- Support the Nightshift Manager with people management including completion of Return to Work interviews and supporting the Nightshift Hygiene Manager to carry out disciplinary investigations
Other
- To participate in projects as requested in order to drive continuous improvement
- To carry out any reasonable request from Hygiene Management
Key Performance Indicators

- Manage the hygiene team during the nightshift
- Update cleaning instructions and audit packs
- Ensure that cleaning standards are achieved
- Train the team and maintain records
- Drive and manage the performance of the team
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Good communication both verbal and written
- A competent individual with proven experience of leading a hygiene team within a food manufacturing environment
- Flexible approach to working
- Good knowledge of cleaning systems and methodology
- Excellent ability to engage and motivate staff and colleagues
- Experience of conducting training on a 1:1 basis or to small groups
- Take ownership and accountability to achieve the required standards
- Ability to motivate, persuade and influence the team
- Basic IT literacy including the ability to input data into Excel and update documents in Word
