An opportunity has arisen to join the Booking Team within the Central Booking department at Salisbury Foundation Trust, as a band 3 Booking Coordinator.

We are looking for evidence of team working as well as the ability to work independently.

The organisational skills to work in a busy team environment, whilst prioritising workload and working to deadlines, recent experience in administration is essential.

The post holder must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience in patient / customer contact.

The department is busy but friendly and has a strong team working ethic, with staff needing to cross cover and support each other.

The department is open 08:00-18:00 Monday to Thursday and 08:00-17:30 on a Friday.

The post holder will be required to work full time hours, working 4 long days with a fixed day off.

To provide an efficient and friendly booking service for our patients and clinical teams. Ensuring all efforts are made to provide patients with an outstanding experience as per the Trust vision.


To be responsible for managing patients pathways whilst under the care of Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, starting with new patient referrals received and the subsequent booking of new patient appointments, surgery and / or follow up appointments.


The coordinators are responsible for the management of the Consultant's and Nursing outpatient new, follow up and theatre waiting lists ensuring that patients are booked in a timely manner, identifying the need for and organising extra capacity as required and escalating any upcoming capacity issues that cannot be resolved.


To be responsible for the management of clinics, this includes processing cancellations for leave, short notice cancellations and slot utilisation whilst liaising with the clinical teams to discuss capacity and demand.

To manage and book Rapid Referral appointments and manage the national NHS electronic referral service.

This includes administering the Referral Assessment Services, Appointment Slot Issues and all cancellations and DNA's through this system as well as through our local patient administration system Lorenzo.
