Our client is a well-respected Financial Services business specialising in Lending. The opportunity has arisen to join the firm in the role of Head of Regulatory Risk and Assurance.

Reporting to the CRO you will help to develop and deliver a robust secondLined of Defence (2 LOD) risk assurance framework.


Responsibilities of the job include:

  • Act with honesty and integrity and take a leading role in embedding a compliance culture into all business areas and to Appointed Rep Firms across the FS division and throughout the AR network.
  • Work closely with the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer to produce and maintain a comprehensive compliance monitoring plan covering all aspects of the FS division activity. This will include both internal departments and the network's AR Firms.
  • Day to day responsibility achieving and delivering the compliance monitoring plan to a professional standard within agreed timeframes.
  • Recruit, retain and manage an appropriately skilled team, developing and supporting staff where necessary.
  • Ensure through ownership that compliance oversight methodology is effective, proportionate and conducted to a recognised professional standard for example IIA standards

Effective monitoring should:

  • Be objective and evidence based.
  • Proportionate to the business risk being assessed.
  • Delivered in a clear, concise and timely manner.
  • Inspire trust and confidence in the overall compliance function from both 1 LOD and 3 LOD activities.
  • Provide guidance and support in respect of regulatory compliance matters where this is required.

Requirements:


  • Strong knowledge of the Financial Conduct Authority's Handbook including a clear understanding of Treating Customer Fairly, MCOB & ICOBs
  • Strong knowledge of FS products and services available within the regulatory arena as well as nonregulated products and services that are likely to be recommended by advisers.
  • A good standard of report writing with the ability to concisely convey technical content.
