Joseph Flach and Sons has been trading for over 140 years as a wholesaler of botanical products. We import and export products all over the world for use in food, drink, animal feed, cosmetic and herbal medicine manufacturing. Our customers range from global brands to small artisan owner managed businesses.

We are a small, tight knit, family feel business with big aspirations to continue the successful growth of JFS through new business development and product diversification.

With 17 employees based at our warehouse in Peterborough we are now looking to bring on board another Procurement Coordinator to help with procurement of stock to fulfil customer orders, sourcing of suppliers and stock holding level management and forecasting.

We are looking for an energetic, friendly, hard-working individual who enjoys working as part of a team and engaging with suppliers and enjoys variety and new challenges. It is essential that this person has real experience of working in a busy purchasing role in the food, ingredients, pharma or related sectors where batch traceability and testing of items is essential.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Evaluating stock levels, monitoring consumption, lead times and possible needs so as to assist with purchasing product as needed.
  • Tracking product availability, specification and pricing with supplies.
  • Analysing stock consumption, particularly key products to maintain options of supply and optimised stock levels.
  • Finding and negotiating best buy prices for the quality of material needed.
  • Checking, maintaining and issuing purchase orders and associated specification documents as required to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Monitoring supplier performance, chasing purchase orders and reporting on expected receipt dates.
  • Managing goods in, batch weight and other attributes

Qualifications
Reasonable qualifications in Maths and English are essential.

Knowledge

  • Expertise in basic commercial practices, purchase ordering systems, stock management systems, batch control and general distribution activities
  • Use of Sage 200 advantageous

Experience

  • Several year's demonstrable experience in Quality or procurement or similar
  • Confident use of IT for business purposes, including MS Office products in particular Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience in a food business desirable

Core KPIs

  • Stock levels, minimum SKUs out of stock, price increase control, minimum stock write offs, minimum levels of returns

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
