The Role


To lead in the development and implementation of the in-house planned works delivery process across the McCarthy Stone estate and to drive revenue and to support the wider Property Operations team in providing effective property management, commercial andtechnical support to the Operations Team and to McCarthy Stone customers.


To work in close collaboration with internal partners in a positive and progressive way to improve Homeowners' Customer Experience and the stock condition of the portfolio.


Key Responsibilities

  • To lead in the development and implementation of the inhouse planned works delivery process, managing projects and contract delivery to drive new revenue streams into the business.
  • Promote the Core Values and Business Philosophy of McCarthy & Stone Group and MSMS/YLMS at all times.
  • Supporting the construction teams to identify client requirements for new developments in line with the Fusion process.
  • Act as Contracts Administrator and project manager for planned work contracts, using a standard form of contract (NEC & JCT), reconcile final accounts and issue client instructions.
  • Prepare scheme designs with costings, programmes for completion of projects and specification of works.
  • Organise documents for tender and advise on appointing contractors, designers and procurement routes.
  • Liaise where necessary, with relevant Divisions/Head Office departments.
  • Keep abreast of legislation and best practice and advise accordingly.
  • Join the standby register for the portfolio to give support out of hours.
  • The job holder will not have direct supervisory responsibilities but will be expected to work successfully within a matrix organisation.
  • The Planned Works Manager will develop internal relationships with employees at all levels within MSMS as well as Divisional and Head Office staff of varying disciplines reporting directly to the Asset Management Director.

Experience Required

  • Educated to HNC or degree level or equivalent and likely possess or working towards a professional qualification in a construction related discipline, preferably CIOB or RICS.
  • Must be computer literate with sound knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheets and a propertybased database such as Qube would be an advantage.
  • A sound knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, including CDM Regulation 201
  • Must have previous experience in building/property surveying utilising JCT or NEC type contracts.
  • Excellent knowledge of the construction or property management industry.
  • Have worked in a related industry for the last three years.
  • Project management, quantity surveying and M&E experience would be beneficial.
