Saturday & Sunday 8.30am - 5.00pm (with requirement to work occasional week day evenings in Spring for overtime payment).

Starting salary £20,815 pa full-time equivalent which equates to £8,437 pa for 15 hours per week.

1. JOB PURPOSE
To prepare football pitches and changing rooms for weekend fixtures between
September - May. (This will include 4-5 weekday evening fixtures during April and early May. (Usually Tuesday / Thursday)).

Will include other estates-related works during the summer months (i.e. preparations for YTC events, street cleaning, general maintenance works etc).


2. MAIN DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
a) To prepare football pitches for fixtures including line marking, putting up nets and corner flags, pitch inspections, and goal post inspections.

b) To liaise with clubs regarding pitch postponements, to leave a message for line manager if matches postponed and to resume other general estates duties (eg, street cleaning or any other estates task as directed).

c) To notify the Estates Manager of any fixture postponements or cancellations, of any faults or vandalism to any street work, furniture or equipment immediately after they are discovered. d) To clean the football changing rooms and toilets as required. e) To pick up litter around playing fields and empty litter bins.

Dispose of waste in the waste collection bin located in the compound and dispose in an effective, safe, and prescribed manner.

f) To keep the car park clear of debris i.e., litter, leaves etc. g) To report any unauthorised activities to the on-call personnel or Police, as appropriate. h) To ensure the security of all buildings and site. i) To assist with upkeep of council vehicles and to complete vehicle mileage sheets and worksheets as required.

j) To undertake other estates-related tasks such as assist with operational and logístical preparations for YTC events, street cleaning and general maintenance works. k) To attend appropriate training courses as instructed by the Town Council. l) To undertake any other reasonable tasks as directed.


3. DIMENSIONS


Responsible for hand tools and other equipment up to the value of £200,000 and for Town Council vehicles during use.


4. JOB CONTEXT
Football Caretaker works including pitch preparations to accommodate necessary fixtures.

Will include other estates related works - event preparations, street cleaning, maintenance etc.


5. SUPERVISION AND WORK PLANNING
The postholder is responsible to the Estates Manager or call out person in their absence. Work is carried out according to the schedule/programme of fixtures between September and May.


6. PROBLEMS AND DECISIONS


In discussion with the Estates Manager or call out person, the postholder deals with pitch inspections and problems such as vandalism or damage to property or street furniture that may occur.


7. CONTACTS
The general public, the Estates Team and other members of staff and
Councillors.


8. KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
May have a vocational qualification at NVQ 2 or equivalent level qualification/experience.

Ability to undertake a simple range of general tasks.

Practical common sense and ability to work on own initiative is required.

Physical fitness and manual & physical dexterity sills are required.

Able to communicate with other members of staff and the general public in a pleasant and effective manner.

Able to work on own initiative.

A full driving licence is required.


9. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND/OR STRAIN
Some physical effort and strain is involved in carrying out the tasks mentioned above.


10. WORKING ENVIRONMENT


The post involves lone working and primarily is working outdoors which includes working in inclement weather conditions and picking up and disposing of unpleasant and dangerous waste.


11. EQUIPMENT


Personal protective equipment will be provided (PPE) along with general equipment relevant to the tasks to be undertaken to include hand and power tools and a mobile phone for work use only.

13. SPECIAL NOTES OR CONDITIONS
