We have a fantastic new opportunity in which you would be joining a team supporting children aged 11-18 with complex needs, learning disabilities and challenging behaviours.

The team adopts Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) which is a person-centred approach to supporting young people with a learning disability.


You will work directly with the young people to provide care and support in order to meet their needs and develop their independence and life skills, implementing evidence-based interventions and PBS plans to reduce behaviours of concern and improve quality of life.


Behaviour is often a way of communicating, so one of your most successful skills will be the ability to engage, listen and communicate with people successfully in a variety of ways.

Importantly you'll understand the complexity of working with challenging behaviours and understand the need to be highly flexible, adaptable, and resilient, which in return will unlock an incredibly rewarding career for you.


Main duties:


  • You would be using a personcentred approach to provide care and support, meeting their needs and developing their independence.
  • Ability to listen and engage with the young people.
  • Understand and appropriately deal with challenging behaviours.
  • To work well in a team, prioritising the needs of the children.
  • Establish positive relationship with the young people.
  • Be able to commit to a 1 on 2 off shift pattern.
  • Highly flexible, adaptable, and resilient.
  • Personal Care will be a requirement.
  • Able to commit to commit to sleep ins.

  • Bottom line salary can be up to £25,000 if maximum number of sleepins included.

What you will need:


  • Experience on a professional or personal basis working alongside challenging behaviours, mental health or learning difficulties.
  • Hold a NVQ level 3 or equivalent in children's residential care. (Desirable).
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Must be over 21 years of age due to national minimum standards.
