Full-time, Fixed-term until 31st December 2024


We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to work on multiple large research projects in the topic of the "neuro-immunometabolism of obesity" in the Laboratory of Prof.

Ana Domingos.

The research assistant will make technical and academic contributions to one or more of the following projects:

  • "Sympathetic neuron-derived NPY and the (neuro)immunometabolism of adipose tissue".
- "Role of presynaptic β2-adrenergic receptor in neuro-adipose crosstalk".
- "Understanding obesity induced sympathetic neuropathy by developing tangible in-vitro systems".

The title and nature of these projects could evolve over time within the given research topic. The research assistant will develop these projects by assisting the project lead(s) with running experiments and analysing concomitant data. The post holder will receive training from the project lead where needed.


Duties will include maintaining a functional and safe laboratory space within guidelines set by more senior laboratory group members; maintaining equipment, including washing, sterilisation and disposal, perform quality checks and contributing to the general cleanliness and upkeep of the laboratory space.

Applicants must hold, or be close to completion of, a bachelor's degree, together with relevant undergraduate project(s) or placements(s). You will have strong communication skills and the experience of following and adapting protocols. You will have the ability to own equally split time between research and technical activities to meet competing deadlines. You should demonstrate a commitment to engaging with, and promoting awareness of, equality, diversity and inclusion in your work.

The post is fixed term until 31st of December 2024.

The post holder will work in the group led by Professor Ana Domingos, and will be based in The Department of Physiology Anatomy & Genetics, Sherrington Building, Sherrington Rd, Oxford OX1 3PT

Interviews are likely to be held on the
week beginning 3rd of June 2024.
