Working with one of the UK's leading automotive manufacturers, this is an exciting opportunity for a Powertrain Test Cell Operator & Test Technician to work on a variety of prototype vehicles including Electric/Hybrid and Autonomous Vehicle projects.

Job Duration - 12 months rolling contract
39 core working hours Mon-Thurs 8am-5pm, Fri 8am-1.20pm

Main responsibilities:

  • Preparation / build / maintenance of units under test (or components) and test cell equipment in line with local procedures and company Engineering Manuals.
  • Support Testing through operation of test cells to gather accurate, timely and quality test data / results.
  • Support Evaluation and concern identification including liaison with Test Engineer.
  • Test Cell operative (CP and AVL PUMA)
  • Calibration, Durability and Function Testing
  • Test Cell Calibration & Unit install
  • Test sequence writing + control parameter setup
  • Unit under test disassembly, assembly & maintenance
  • Test Instrumentation install & Setup
  • Bench fitting / fabrication.
  • Liaise with Test / Design engineers to conduct tests to company Standards and local procedures / evaluate test results.
  • Learn bespoke company systems required to fulfil role
  • Learn to work with next generation electric powertrains (including bench testing)
  • Develop problem solving skills (Diagnostics + systems methodical fault analysis)

Qualifications/Skills Required:

  • Experience of AVL PUMA / SIERRA CP or test bed / rig operating systems advantageous.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong methodical problemsolving / fault diagnosis
  • Instrumentation, test bed control techniques and with regards vehicle systems including use of manufacturer fault diagnosis tools ideal.
  • Previous experience with test bed data analysis tools such as ETAS, Combustion Analysis, Stress / Strain Measurement an advantage.
Experience within vehicle or component test environments is preferred but not essential

  • Valid UK/European driving license.
