Specialist Mental Health Worker

Youth Offending Service/CAMHS

Clinical Psychologist, Psychiatric Nurse, Child Psychotherapist, Family Therapist


We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated Specialist Mental Health Worker with a passion for working with young people within the Youth Justice System.

You will be joining a busy and dynamic Youth Offending Service which works in partnership with the borough's CAMHS, located a 10 minute walk away.

These teams have a well-established and effective partnership which facilitates opportunities for joint working and co delivery of community based interventions.


Your remit will be to provide a first class input to the Youth Offending Service, providing good quality, comprehensive assessments, evidence based interventions and treatment packages to young people who present with particular difficulties within the youth Justice System.

This will include individual work, parent and family work, group work, consultation and other evidence based interventions.


To provide a specialist forensic child and adolescent mental health service to young people and their families who have become involved in the Criminal Justice System.


  • To provide a communitybased service, located within the local CAMHS.
  • To deliver a service including the provision of specialist advice/consultation and forensic and CAMHS evidencebased mental health assessment, including adolescents with complex and severe mental health problems. This requires skills in assessing complex client systems, appropriate formulation, engagement and interventions.
  • To liaise with other agencies, deliver specialized clinical interventions and provide support, clinical supervision and teaching of multiagency staff and students
  • To provide specialist therapy for children, young people and their families.
  • To provide mental health input to the network of the child, young person and families, as required.
  • To provide an effective interface between Health and the Criminal Justice System as the post sits directly at the interface of these two systems. The post holder has to be aware of, adhere to and be accountable to the relevant practices and management structure in both systems.
