Legal Assistant
Beeston Shenton Solicitors is looking for a full-time Legal Assistant to join our busy property team in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about the legal field, enjoys working as part of a team to assist the department and firm with administrative support.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, punctual, and has a great attitude.Responsibilities:
- Caseload Management under supervision.
- To assist the delivery of, and maintain high quality standards within the team, including training other staff where necessary.
- Supporting the management of caseloads.
- Opening new files for the team in line with the firm policy and procedure.
- Confirming client identity, as and when required, in accordance with the firms client care and AML policy and procedure.
- Entering files onto the case management system ensuring that due diligence and money laundering checks are completed and recorded as required.
- Liaising with the practice manager with regard to queries around identity verification and due diligence, money laundering and/or file risk assessment.
- Liaising and communicating with external parties e.g. other solicitors, lenders, agents etc.
- Checking titles with the Land Registry and reporting any unusual/adverse matters to their line manager
- Assisting with matters relating to exchange of contracts.
- To ensure all files are closed and archived correctly in line with the firms file closing archiving and retention process/policy.
- Word processing and digital dictation/typing (if applicable).
- Supporting the team to meet their financial targets.
- Supporting the team to achieve CQS and high quality conveyancing service delivery.
- Assisting with duties relating to compliance e.g. production of client care letters, file audits, management of key dates etc.
Post
- Ensuring all correspondences and communications are entered onto the relevant file and to the case management system in a timely manner.
- Dealing with outgoing post including locating addresses, contact details etc and liaising with reception for postage/DX etc.
Client Care
- Provide a high quality service to clients
- Taking calls and messages and dealing with such matters as are reasonably commensurate with the level of the role.
- To provide updates and communications to clients in a timely and effective manner.
Administration
- Assisting the fee earning function and other teams as necessary.
- Assisting firm staff with generic administration functions e.g. photocopying, scanning, faxing, typing etc.
- Assisting the firm with all administration functions as and when required.
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with people of all levels of the organization. This includes phone etiquette.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment.
- Ability to work independently with supervision or as a member of a team.
Salary:
From £19,000.00 per year
