About the role


The Small Works Joiner is a skilled craftsperson responsible for performing carpentry and joinery tasks on small-scale building services projects.

This role requires a high level of expertise in woodworking, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team to deliver quality results.


The Small Works Joiner plays a critical role in enhancing the functionality and aesthetics of building interiors by creating custom wooden elements and fixtures.

Their craftsmanship contributes to the success and satisfaction of clients and ensures that projects are completed to the highest standards of quality.


What you'll be doing

  • Carpentry and Joinery: Execute carpentry and joinery tasks, including measuring, cutting, shaping, and installing wood and woodbased materials. Construct and install fixtures, cabinets, doors, windows, and other wooden components as required.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications to accurately carry out joinery tasks. Ensure that work aligns with project requirements and design specifications.
  • Material Selection: Select and source appropriate wood and materials for each project, considering factors such as durability, costeffectiveness, and aesthetic appeal. Manage inventory and maintain a wellorganized workshop.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, including the proper use of tools and equipment, to ensure a safe work environment. Report safety concerns and incidents promptly to supervisors.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of craftsmanship and quality in all joinery work. Conduct quality checks and inspections to ensure work meets industry standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other tradespeople, including electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians, to ensure the seamless integration of joinery work within the overall project.
  • Timely Project Execution: Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines and milestones. Communicate progress and potential delays to project supervisors.
  • Client Interaction: Interact professionally with clients and project stakeholders. Address client requests and concerns, striving to meet or exceed their expectations.

What we're looking for

  • City & Guilds (SVQ) Carpentry & Joinery 817
  • Knowledge of woodworking tools, techniques, and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and plans.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision.
  • Understanding of safety procedures and regulations.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Please be aware that this role involves a lot of physical work, manual handling as well as being on your feet for long periods of time.
