What will I learn?


You will build your technical and practical skills working alongside our experienced Marine Team whilst also developing your academic knowledge through college based studies.


In year 1 and 2, you will undertake modules to gain a SCQF Level (2) in Port Operations GJ6V 22 which consists of 11 units.

In addition, you will also complete a RYA Level 2 Advanced Powerboat, Commercially Endorsed. In year 3, you will undertake VTS Nautical Knowledge IALA/MCA (Module - C and a V103 VTS Operator qualification.


What do I need?

  • You will have a minimum of four National 5 qualifications including Maths and English (Higher Maths and English preferred).
  • You will be comfortable working in an outdoors environment in all weathers, at height and in confined spaces. In the final year you will be required to undertake shifts including weekends and nights. You must also be able to demonstrate an appreciation of the highest standards of health and safety at all times.
  • Have a good level of physical fitness and be able to achieve ENG1 Seafarer Medical Standard.
  • A full UK drivers licence is preferred.

About The Role

What will I learn?


You will build your technical and practical skills working alongside our experienced Engineering Team whilst also developing your academic knowledge through college based studies.


Year - You will attend college on a part-time basis to attain National Certificate in Electrical Engineering and your Performing Engineering Operations (Level 2) will be carried out on site and assessed by College assessors.


Years 2 to - Working onsite with our Electrical Engineering Team, you will also attend College on a day release basis to attain your SVQ Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance and HNC in Electrical Engineering.


What do I need?

  • You will have a head start if you have already completed a Foundation Apprenticeship in a related field.
  • You must be comfortable working in an outdoors environment in all weathers, at height and in confined spaces, always demonstrating a full commitment to your health and safety responsibilities.
