The Oxford-NINJAL Corpus of Old Japanese is a British Academy-funded project for the ongoing development of a digital corpus of all texts in Japanese from the Old Japanese period.


We are seeking an assistant to provide translations of a large proportion of the texts in the corpus, and develop solutions for minor issues arising from this work.

This translation and analysis will sit alongside data entry as the main work in the role.

You will have experience of translation from, and knowledge of morphological and syntactic analysis in, Old Japanese.

You will be able to demonstrate evidence of your ability to work methodically with mínimal supervision, identifying and adhering to best practice.

You will have excellent problem-solving ability as well as the ability to learn quickly.

**This is a fixed-term post with limited funding to September 2024.
