We have an excellent opportunity for an
Associate Lecturer in Advanced Calculus to deliver the module Advanced Calculus in the Spring Term 2024.
You will have a sound knowledge of foundational probability and statistics, and be capable of delivering such material, as a first introduction, to an undergraduate audience, with appropriate exposition using R/R Studio (Posit).
- experience of (or willingness to develop) a wide range of teaching and assessment methods;
- demonstrably effective communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, across a range of relevant contexts and platforms.
You will be teaching Advanced Calculus s which is a foundational module integral to our undergraduate provision in Mathematics and related programmes.
The module introduces students to probability spaces, distribution theory, discrete and continuous random variables, point and interval estimation for unknown population parameters, and Shewhart control charts.
Practical implementation is a theme that runs strongly throughout the material, and, as such, material is complemented with exposition of real-world examples using R/R Studio (Posit).
The role will involve delivering in person teaching sessions and setting and marking coursework assignments, as well as the final, written, examination that takes place in January, and the reassessment examination that takes place in late August.
The role may also involve generating pre-recorded materials (for students to watch prior to an in-person lecture), and then delivering the associated in-person lectures that will complement, and expound upon, those pre-records.
Salary-starting rate £66.70 per hour (inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked. This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a 'Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier' at 2.5, which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
- We welcome applicants from all sections of the community. The College is committed to improving the gender and cultural diversity of its workforce, holding an Athena SWAN award, membership of WISE, operating Disability Confident & Mindful Employer schemes._
