Overview

  • We are looking for a Senior User Experience Researcher with a desire to help us improve the experience of Chambers customers, and build and scale our user research practice.

Reporting into Simon Jaffery-Reed, our CPO, you will be our only User Experience Researcher but you will join a diverse product design team of 5.

You'll work day-to-day with our product teams, partnering with product leaders, managers, engineers, product marketing and product designers to define the user research needs across the department, create and execute against a user research roadmap.


As a Senior User Researcher you'll focus on:

Working hands-on with product teams, leading, running or supporting user research, creating efficient and actionable insights, evangelising the user research practice and the knowledge you will build across the product department and company-wide.

Working towards our overall product strategy goals - you will be responsible for building knowledge on our different audiences, helping teams understand and leverage your insights and drive towards business OKRs.

Your work will have real and immediate impact on business decisions, product roadmaps and the overall user experience.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, lead and run strategic generative or summative user research studies along with product teams, recommending and executing the appropriate qualitative or quantitative user research methodologies
  • Analyse and consolidate findings into actionable insights, personas, jobs to be done, or any other appropriate outputs. Disseminate these insights to product teams and other departments if necessary to inform their decisions, and to leadership to inform the product strategy
  • Work collaboratively with business stakeholders to identify gaps in our knowledge and create a user research roadmap to fill this knowledge gap and support the company strategic objectives
  • Facilitate and run workshop sessions to align teams and working groups on requirements, user research objectives and highlight potential pitfalls
  • Advocate for User Research, communicate insights to all levels of the business to build companywide knowledge, and help create a customer centric culture
  • Own our customer panel, autonomously contact and schedule research sessions with relevant people based on the needs of the product teams, ensuring you are aligned with any marketing comms
  • Create and maintain a scalable and easy to digest repository of insights for the team to contribute to and consume from
  • Coach & support nonresearchers (Product Designers, Product Managers and Product Marketers) in designing and running their own studies and help them with approaches and techniques where possible
  • Help champion design thinking across the broader organisation

Skills and Experience

  • A wellrounded user research skill set with demonstrable experience working crossfunctionally across the entire product development cycle. You have used quantitative and qualitative methodologies to explore and help product teams explore and define a problem space, prove or disprove hypotheses and evaluate user experience
  • You can identify problems and opportunities, and have demonstrable experience of how user research can impact strategy
  • You have experience creating a shared approach to user research, gathering requirements, creating alignment and driving projects to completion
  • You are a storyteller, able to tailor your presentation to your audience, comfortable communicating up, out and down to gather feedback and onboard others in your approach
  • You understand business strategy, you are capable of thinking ahead and envisioning user research needs, as demonstrated by your experience created user research roadmaps that support company strategic objectives
  • You have contributed to the creation, maintenance and evolution of user research operations
  • You have helped grow and mentor user researchers and product designers throughout your experience
