We welcome applicants for the role of
Pensions Administrator to join our busy Pensions Team.


The Pensions Team aims to provide an effective and efficient pensions service to all West Midlands Police Personnel, whilst participating in achieving team objectives and actively contributing to the overall objectives of the Force.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team, as they begin to go through extensive change and restructure.


Role Responsibilities:


  • To perform detailed, Technical calculations with a high degree of accuracy informing individuals of their benefit entitlement and options
  • Extract, compile and interrogate data from multiple software packages analysing qualitative and quantitative information
  • Build effective and collaborative relationships with external/ internal stakeholders and partners across all departments to ensure accurate information is recorded and available at all times
  • Develop and maintain an expert working knowledge of all aspects of the Police pension schemes and therefore be a point of reference and information when required.

Experience & Knowledge - Essential:


  • Previous pensions administration experience of Defined Benefit (DB) scheme including leavers, retirements, deaths, transfer in/out, monthly processing, benefit statements, renewals and pension increase.
  • Experience of current pensions legislation and framework is essential, especially the regulatory requirements of the various Pensions and Finance Acts which impact on pensions administration.
  • Able to demonstrate a numerical aptitude evidenced by work related experience or academic achievements.

Skills - Essential:


  • Able to deliver results in a highly pressured environment flexible and able to work in ambiguous situations
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to assimilate complex data and information.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to recognise the need for a customer focused approach to their delivery both in terms of quality and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Forming successful professional relationships both internally and externally.
  • Welldeveloped project management skills able to see projects/tasks from concept through to completion within given timescales.

Skills - Desirable:


  • Extract, compile and interrogate data from multiple software packages including a comprehensive working knowledge of Excel, analysing qualitative and quantitative information.
  • Strong Maths & English GCSE or equivalent qualification minimum Grade B.
  • Studying for or a willingness to study for a relevant Pensions qualification.

Vetting:

Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Full-Time (37 hours)

Lloyd House, Birmingham
with the possibility of Hybrid working (a minimum 3 days per week at Lloyd House).
