My client in Leicester is looking for an experienced
Band 6 Haematology/ Blood Transfusion Biomedical Scientist for a locum contract.


University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is one of the biggest and busiest NHS trusts in the country, incorporating the General, Glenfield and Royal Infirmary hospitals.

They have their very own Children's Hospital and run one of the country's leadingheart centres.

The Trusts' team is made up of more than 17,000 staff providing a range of services primarily for the one million residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

They work with partners at the University of Leicester and De Montfort Universityproviding world-class teaching to nurture and develop the next generation of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals, many of whom go on to spend their working lives with the Trust.


Job Role:

  • Monday
  • Friday
  • 37.5 h/week
  • Carry out all laboratory analyses associated with the post, including reporting results, maintaining appropriate records and documentation.
  • Undertake specialised analytical work in designated areas of the department.
  • Maintain ongoing Professional Portfolio and update Professional Development Plan. Undertake courses and other activities to satisfy HCPC Continuing Professional Development requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and legislative requirements including patient confidentiality and the Data Protection Act
  • Able to participate in out of hour's roster and/or other flexible working arrangements.
  • Assist the department with the continuous improvement of the Quality Management System

Qualifications and Experience required:
-
HCPC registered as a BMS:

  • Able to demonstrate competency in appropriate Pathology laboratory techniques.
  • Diagnostic laboratory experience of at least minimum 2 years post state registration experience.
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to communicate concisely, effectively and clearly.
  • Able to make judgements regarding complex facts or situations that require analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment and understanding of the importance of treating all individuals with dignity and respect appropriate to their individual needs
