£25,000 - £30,000 dependent on experience
We are currently looking for an Import/Export Specialist to work within our client's Production

Control Department on a permanent basis to support on all import/export matters. The Successful Import/Export Specialist will be experienced with customs and have experience leading a team.

Key Responsibilities of the Import Export Specialist:

  • Support and advise the import and export sales team in customs matters
  • Review current logistic operation
  • Deal with logistic queries/issues effectively and provide solutions
  • Manage and negotiate contracts with freight forwarders
  • Maintain departments training manuals and identify skill gaps within the team
  • Develop and drive continuous improvement within the department
  • Identify and report, in a timely manner, any risks to MME's continuity of component supply
  • Ensure customer compliance
  • Implement custom procedures such as IP
  • AEO
  • Bonded Warehousing
  • Support other areas of the department and organisation to achieve the company objectives

General Tasks of the Import Export Specialist:

  • Understand the relevant procedures and training manuals for all tasks
  • Ensure the accuracy and ontime delivery of all tasks
  • Support activities to meet departmental objectives
  • Hilight potential issues and assist in any resulting investigations
  • Adhere to company procedures and support
  • Communicate clearly at all times
  • Support all improvements and coordinate activities within the department
  • Ensure the section is tidy and promote 5S/5W activities
  • Take on other reasonable tasks as and when requested by the Departmental Supervisor or Manager
  • Ensure compliance with all SOX, ISO9001 and ISO14001 procedures and regulations

The Successful Import Export Specialist:


  • Educated to GCSE at grade C or above in English and Maths
  • Understanding of all customs procedures
  • Customs entry experience
  • Proven experience working for a freight forwarder
  • Proven experience in tariff classification
  • Experience leading a team and reporting KPIs
  • Numerate
  • Assertive
  • Good communicator
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Accurate
  • Drive for results
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
