Job Overview
Principle Responsibilities
The Design Engineer will be primarily responsible for embedded electronics hardware design and development, PCB design, proving and supporting the design during the lifecycle, and assisting with a wide range of projects for a varied client base.
The technologieswill include vision systems, electromechanical systems, optoelectronics systems.The role breaks down into three main areas; Development, Research, Others and the responsibilities of each role will typically include, but not be limited to the following:
Development (70%)
- Develop and test electronic systems
- Learn new technologies
- Attend team meetings
- Resolve users/clients' issues
- Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction
- Identifying new technologies which could be exploited, either in product design or improved production methods and processes
- Recognising existing technologies in other markets which could applied to existing markets
- Develop testing and production tools and jigs
- Help in production when needed
- Help with daily office tasks
Skills / Experience / Qualifications:
- Essential:_
- A degree or higher qualification in the field of Electronics Engineering or a relevant field
- Electronics Circuit Design Engineer (analogue/digital)
- PCB Design & Schematic Capture
- Experience of Altium Designer or similar ECAD Packages
- Strong practical skills debugging, testing, hand soldering & electronic/mechanical assembly
- Prototyping and debugging skills
- Ability to produce and maintain design and test documentation
- Being proactive and have good organizational skills
- Being able to communicate effectively in a written and verbal format
- Be able to work effectively with other colleagues
- Being able to meet targets
- Desirable:_
- Network interface protocols
- SPI, I2C, UART, RS232/48
- Embedded Software Development in C
- Programmable Logic
- CPLD, FPGA
- Power Electronic Development
- Switch Mode Power Supply, Linear Power Supply
- Common understanding of electromechanical systems
- Common understanding of electrooptical systems
- Working with Lab machines and tools
- Image systems
- Understanding of image sensors
- Other specialised software packages like MATLAB
