We've got an exciting opportunity to join our Network Management team who deal with Network highway issues and public rights of way across the Borough of Gateshead.


About the role.


You will be working as a Network Management Technician to assist the Network Manager in discharging the Council's duties in relation to ensuring that public events affecting the highway are carried out safely and to as assisting events upon the highway.

The post holder must have

  • Ability to work outside core hours as required, to attend events on evenings and weekends.
  • 5 GCSE's grade 4 or Grade C or above including Maths and English or equivalent
ONC (or equivalent)

  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Good numeracy, literacy and IT skills encompassing information and data management using databases.

It would be desirable to have:

  • Relevant qualification in civil engineering, transport planning or related discipline ,and
  • Current Driving Licence and access to a car or means to mobility support
  • An understanding of relevant legislation and technical literature
  • Experience of working in a multi disciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of highway law.
