Join Our Team as a Caretaker at a Mainstream Secondary School in Croydon


Are you an experienced and dedicated individual seeking a rewarding role in the education sector? We are currently hiring a Caretaker to join our team at a prestigious mainstream secondary school in the heart of Croydon.

This is an immediate, full-time, and long-term position, which will continue until the end of the academic year.


Requirements:


  • Previous experience as a Caretaker or in a similar role is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of general maintenance tasks, including basic repairs, plumbing, and electrical work.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently.
  • Good communication skills to interact with staff, students, and external contractors effectively.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations to ensure a safe environment for all.

Responsibilities:


  • Undertake general caretaking duties, including opening and closing the school premises.
  • Ensure the security and safety of the school buildings, equipment, and grounds.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance and repair needs, and address them promptly.
  • Assist with minor repairs, plumbing, and electrical work as required.
  • Liaise with external contractors and suppliers to arrange repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the school premises, including classrooms, corridors, and outdoor areas.
  • Set up and dismantle equipment and furniture for school events and activities.
  • Monitor and manage stock levels of cleaning supplies, equipment, and other resources.
  • Respond to emergency situations such as floods or power outages, taking appropriate action to minimise disruption.
  • Support the school community by participating in the general life of the school and promoting a positive learning environment.
