Are you an experienced and dedicated individual seeking a rewarding role in the education sector? We are currently hiring a Caretaker to join our team at a prestigious mainstream secondary school in the heart of Croydon.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Caretaker or in a similar role is essential.
- Strong knowledge of general maintenance tasks, including basic repairs, plumbing, and electrical work.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently.
- Good communication skills to interact with staff, students, and external contractors effectively.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and emergency situations.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations to ensure a safe environment for all.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake general caretaking duties, including opening and closing the school premises.
- Ensure the security and safety of the school buildings, equipment, and grounds.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance and repair needs, and address them promptly.
- Assist with minor repairs, plumbing, and electrical work as required.
- Liaise with external contractors and suppliers to arrange repairs and maintenance.
- Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the school premises, including classrooms, corridors, and outdoor areas.
- Set up and dismantle equipment and furniture for school events and activities.
- Monitor and manage stock levels of cleaning supplies, equipment, and other resources.
- Respond to emergency situations such as floods or power outages, taking appropriate action to minimise disruption.
- Support the school community by participating in the general life of the school and promoting a positive learning environment.
