    Laboratory Technician - Pathogens

    The Role

    We are looking for an individual to join our committed Pathogens Laboratory team.

    In this role, you'll report to the Pathogens Team Leader and play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of the laboratory.

    Work involves microbiological testing of samples, sub-culturing broths for pathogen analysis, counting and identifying microorganisms on plates, and performing accurate calculations for test results.

    About the Position

    • Shift: 40 hours per week, Wednesday - Friday 12:00-23:00 Saturdays 11:00-22:00
    • Location: Chatteris
    • Contract: Fixed Term 12-month Contract

    The Day-to-Day

    • Sub-culturing broths for pathogen analysis.
    • Counting and identifying microorganisms on enumeration plates.
    • Performing calculations for test results and data entry into the LIMS system.
    • Assisting with stock control and ensuring work is completed promptly.
    • Reading pathogen plates and maintaining high laboratory cleanliness.

    The Essentials

    • A Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant science subject.
    • The ability to work alone and as part of a team in a busy laboratory.
    • A keen eye for detail and the ability to work on own initiative.
    • Good communication skills, written and oral.
    • Ability to accurately follow written procedures.
    • Previous laboratory experience would be an advantage but full training will be provided.
