About the role
The Lead Tools Developer role in the NAT ensures platforms, services and infrastructure required by multiple projects are deployed, supported, documented, and maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a small team of Developers, prioritising workloads and development direction to design, develop & deliver prototype apps and services
- Owning and managing tools and systems to ensure smooth workflows and delivery of projects, including version control systems and continuous development and continuous integration pipelines, using a variety of tools such as Bitbucket, Jenkins, Docker and others
- Owning code repositories and managing push/pull requests to ensure integrity of products and projects, and running code reviews to promote effective collaborative programming on projects
- Managing resources such as servers and connectivity to enable projects to be delivered in ambitious timescales and quick turn around on incoming demand. Designing server architecture to enable secure and efficient deployment and reduce risk of downtime Liaise with all areas of the business to ensure the team has the support needed to drive automations
What We Need from You:
Essential Skills:
- Passionate about technology and the ways in which it can be harnessed to provide value to people and businesses.
- Comfortable with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders. You like to speak with people and to show them new ideas
- Experienced in coding and scripting languages with strong skills in PHP, JavaScript and available frameworks plus demonstrable knowledge of SQL and other databases such as MySQL
- Familiar with continuous integration management and associated tools / frameworks (e.g., Jenkins).
- Good understanding of deployment and automation tools such as Ansible, Docker, Chef and Puppet.
