Lloyd's List has an exciting opportunity for a
Multimedia Editor, overseeing the development of analysis stories for Lloyd's List.


Acting as part of a core editorial team that oversees the daily agenda, the role will identify existing stories and develop new content that will add depth of analysis, working with journalists and data team members to inject data-led insights, infographics and multimedia format context.

The role will facilitate collaboration between teams, but also create content independently, developing multi-media background explainers on key topics that resonate with the Lloyd's List audience.

This is a full-time permanent role and will report to the Deputy Editor, Lloyd's List.


This role is balanced working model between home and our modern and centrally located UK office on London's Southbank, with an excellent and a wide variety of services and transport links situated nearby.


Key responsibilities

  • Liaise with data journalists, LLI and wider editorial team to expand daily news angles into more valuable analysis.
  • Work as part of the core editorial team to develop analysis content, enhancing stories with multimedia, data, audio, video, infographics.
  • Develop new audio and visual content that adds value to Lloyd's List output, podcasts, audio interviews and infographics
  • Lead daily monitoring of news sources, competition, company releases etc to ensure the right stories are being developed and news nibs are commissioned.
  • Produce regular social media optimised content showcasing the best of Lloyd's List analysis.
  • Work with the editorial and data teams to create multimedia tools that help audiences understand key topics.
  • Curate web pages in line with analysis agenda and commission or produce dataled topic backgrounders, data sets and multimedia insight content, including
  • Work with the senior editorial team to monitor and respond to audience engagement metrics
    .

What we are looking for:

Essential

  • At least 5 years' experience in a journalist role in the global trade sector (energy, logistics, insurance, shipping, transport, finance, etc)
  • At least 5 years' experience with multimedia, including video and audio editing, podcast production
  • At least 3 years' experience in managing social media platforms for a news desk
  • Excellent news judgement and deep understanding of the global business market demands for news, insight and data.
  • Advanced digital skills and understanding of how to use digital tools to enhance reader experience and loyalty.
  • A proven ability to explain complex ideas in a simple and accessible way.
  • Robust understanding of and uptodate knowledge of laws of defamation and subjudice
Desirable

  • Specific knowledge of shipping or related sector preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of the global shipping industry is preferred.
