Position Details:


  • Working Day**: Every Thursday

- Hours: 6 hours (specific timings can be negotiated)

- Student Age Range: 7-16 years (Primary and GCSE level)

- Location: SBWA, Tarling Hub Centre, 20 Fallows Close, Finchley, London, N2 8GL


Responsibilities:


  • Assess students' knowledge and understanding in various science disciplines.
  • Develop and implement tailored lesson plans suitable for primary and GCSE level pupils.
  • Conduct one-on-one or small group teaching sessions at the centre.
  • Assign, mark, and provide constructive feedback on science-related tasks and homework.
  • Prepare students for science exams, lab activities, and other school-related assignments.
  • Monitor pupil progression and offer regular feedback to parents or guardians.
  • Utilise diverse teaching aids, including digital platforms and lab equipment, to enhance the learning environment.
  • Stay updated with current teaching methodologies, tools, and techniques pertinent to science and the specific age group.
  • Attend staff meetings and actively engage in continuous professional growth.

Qualifications:


  • Education in a field related to science (degree not mandatory but would be an advantage).
  • Previous experience or familiarity with teaching or tutoring, particularly within the 7-16 age bracket.
  • Proficiency in diverse teaching methodologies and resources related to the sciences.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for teaching and a patient approach when interacting with younger learners.
  • Ability to adapt lessons to align with a pupil's learning pace and comprehension level.
  • Robust organisational and planning capabilities.
