About the function


Network Certification Body (NCB) is a dynamic independent company within the Network Rail Group; we provide infrastructure and rail vehicle assessment services in the UK and European rail industry and we're growing to meet the needs of this expanding market.

We provide a comprehensive range of certification services, covering all the legislation that a rail engineering project require, and we need talented people like you to join us.

About the role (External):


What does the average day look like?


Day to day, you will process all new enquiries through the enquiry-to-order Process (E2O) to ensure that all internal processes are adhered to.

You will assess and resolve client queries, supporting the Customer Account Managers, during the enquiry-to-order and contract variations processes, so that the client receives the proposal within the defined SLA's.

This includes producing market research and analysis to allow the Sales & Marketing team to target marketing effort, to generate new enquiries and support the delivery of the Sales & Marketing strategy.

As well as providing support to the CAMs, liaising with the Conformance Managers, to produce high quality proposals in line with the bid process, maximising proposal success rate.


In this role you will also evaluate the start and end dates in the pipeline of opportunities so that the NCB delivery function has the most up to date and correct data for all tentative resource to allow the business to accurately plan resource.

Producing weekly and periodic reports on Sales & Marketing activity and performance to support achievement of overall business objectives.

You will implement the customer feedback process for products and services delivered, gaining feedback from customers, analysing results, calculating NCB's Net Promoter score so that NCB understand how to improve their services for their customer.

Also providing support to the Sales & Marketing team in the production of sales collateral, maintaining and managing NCB's LinkedIn and website, to keep customers and stakeholders informed and engaged.

Including maintaining relationships with Rail Forums and Memberships and provide support in the facilitation of external events and NCB delivered training, to maximise the value of NCB events and memberships.


What essential skills and experiences are required?

  • Demonstrable successful experience in a customer facing role.
  • Proven excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and the ability to successfully handle conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrable strong interpersonal, influencing, communication and organisational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage customer relationships with a strong customer focussed approach.
  • Proven ability to multitask
  • Successful experience of working with a team

We would also like, but not essential.

  • Railway industry knowledge, including experience in the conduct of, or management of railway certification.
  • Sales experience within the rail industry

Key Vacancy Information

Duration: 15 month Fixed Term Contract

Band & Salary:
Band 5 £26,000 - £30,422
