What is the purpose of this role?

The purpose of this role is to perform a range of assigned front-line maintenance/operational activities on our sewage treatment works.

This will include planned and preventative maintenance of sewage treatment works to support the operation of our assets.

Our technicians and engineers are a vital component of what Thames Water does. Our technicians are key figures on any site and often in the eye of the public. You will help with the day-to-day operation of our sewage treatment works. You will be a team playerand be able to think on your feet and problem solve.

Those with a can-do attitude and who can work efficiently are paramount to what we require to enable us to provide an exceptional service to our customers.


What will this role involve?
On a day-to-day basis, you will receive your "workload" and will also be responding to emergency alarms.

You will be working as part of a team but may also be alone which highlights the importance of our high health & safety standards.

You will have your owntools and access to a work van when required which you will keep maintained to a high standard.

This role will require you to take responsibility for the upkeep of the sewage treatment works, planned maintenance, reactive maintenance, fault finding, and responsibility for health and safety for yourself and the sites you work on.


What skills are we looking for?:

  • You will have basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Relevant experience in the water industry is advantageous although would not be required as all necessary training will be provided
  • Understanding the workings of a sewage pumping station including knowledge of different pump and valve systems would be preferable

Due to the nature of this role, a full clean driving license required.

In addition to the basic salary, and after completion of training, you may be included on the On-Standby rota for which you will receive extra payments.

A company van will also be provided.
