Description
This role is to provide a focal point of contact for new and existing Utility Line customers. Responsible for submitting accurate, feasible and compliant bids for work which reflect customer requirements.

This role aims to secure a high rate of bid success and contributes to final profit margins on each completed project.

This role takes successful bids and works with technically qualified staff or contractors to complete technical design, legal searches and purchase of long lead items before handing off project to delivery team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Attend postaward project handovers from the tendering team, accepting responsibility for the project going into preconstruction, understanding the commercial and design requirements.
  • Issuing RFIs to customers in order to obtain all required project specific information to enable the preconstruction design process to commence.
  • Instructing and coordinating designs throughout the preconstruction program. Designs will vary from electrical ICP, NICEIC or civils designs.
  • Reviewing designs received, ensuring they are feasible, designed as instructed and commercially viable against the original budget for the scheme, prior to submission to the customer for comment.
  • Liaising with the design teams and DNOs/IDNOs in order to progress the project through preconstruction.
  • Coordination of the design approval process, assisting where required to make the process as smooth as possible.
  • Attend client meetings as and when required.
  • Provide updates to internal and external stakeholders on how the project is progressing through the preconstruction program, identifying any risks.
  • Assist the Project Managers with preconstruction and construction design queries/changes. Instructing design variations as required and assisting with completing the commercial variations where required.
  • Liaise and coordinate any legal consents required for works relating to the projects, such as obtaining wayleaves or easements for new apparatus to be installed.
  • Responsible for updating trackers and project folders, superseding old design revisions and communicating any changes to all key stakeholders.

Knowledge Required

  • Knowledge and understanding of customer service and impact on business performance;
  • Knowledge and understanding of continuous improvement within new and existing processes.
  • Thorough understanding of the ICP industry, including DNO and IDNO processes and the benefits of working with IDNOs.
  • Understanding of DNO/IDNO requirements for electrical installations up to 11KV.
  • Knowledge of design and preconstruction processes.

Skills and Abilities

  • Must be very well organised and be able to manage multiple projects/varying workloads.
  • Ability to adapt and react positively to change, coming into a fast growing business.
  • Ability to use Microsoft packages, including Word and Powerpoint.
  • A team player with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation.
  • Keen eye for detail, having a methodical approach to each task.
  • Great communication skills, both written and verbal

Experience/Qualifications

  • Experience within the ICP industry (electrical).
  • Experience within customer facing environments.
  • Experience working within a similar role of design/technical coordinator within the construction industry.
  • Experience updating project trackers.

Package
Salary - £30-35k per annum (dependent on experience)

25 days annual leave + bank holidays

3% Pension contributions after qualifying period
