Company Overview
Biochrom is part of Harvard Bioscience (HBIO), a global business providing life science, laboratory apparatus worldwide.
This role will be part of the Supply Chain Function, is based in Waterbeach (Cambridge), and will report to the Supply Chain Initiatives Manager -Europe.

- Some knowledge of data gathering and analysis would be beneficial
- Customer focused approach, always ensuring maximum business value, including Quality, service and cost parameters
Responsibilities of Our Buyer
- Manage and maintain current MRP system with current and accurate data
- Ensure material and product requirements are met through effective procurement activity, utilising the relevant business system as appropriate
- Develop and manage shortage report and expediting system to ensure the timely arrival of products and material to meet the business requirements
- To control inventory to best in class benchmarking. Support initiatives to optimise inventory levels.
- To manage costs of material and products ensuring best value to the business
- Develop strong working relationships with all suppliers ensuring they are aware of business objectives
- Assist in the review and development of effective, lean practices and processes.
- Manage suppliers through effective vendor rating and performance management systems
- Ensure all Purchase Orders are maintained to provide supplier acknowledgement details and latest availability information to the business.
- Ensure all leadtime information is reviewed and updated as appropriate
- Support achieving best value for the business on all indirect procurement activities.
- To support the provision of data as it relates to Purchasing and other business areas.
- To champion best Procurement practices and reduce instances of "rogue" purchasing.
- Assist in the successful completion of business audits ensuring nonconformances are minimised.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in a Purchasing Position
- CIPS Qualified to Level
- Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
- German speaking would be desirable but not essential
Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 30 per week
Salary:
£28,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
