Post Title:
Vocational Tutor


Appointment type:
Permanent


Contracted weeks:39 weeks plus 1 floating week during holiday time


Contracted days:5 (Mon - Fri)


Contracted hours:35 (7 hours per day)


We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Construction Tutor to join our team.

Key duties and requirements of this role are:

If you have experience within the construction industry and can teach others your knowledge then this role may be for you.


  • You will be responsible for the planning and preparation of sessions, as well as marking and providing feedback to students.
  • You will need to adapt lessons to the students' needs and be able to engage students within their education.
  • You will be sharing your knowledge of Construction; therefore, it is important that your knowledge is up to date. You should have experience of working within the construction sector for at least 2 years.
  • You will be responsible for the health and safety of your students during the sessions, and risk assessments should be carried out regularly to ensure this.
  • You will be required to attend meetings and share the progress of your students, so it is essential that you have excellent communication skills.
  • Cover for a tutor as and when required.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Health & Safety and Safeguarding_


  • Ensure all company procedures are implemented and followed including H&S, Risk Assessment and Safe to a working SEF
  • Feedback to parents on Learners progress as appropriate
  • Complete termly progress reports
  • Act as a Key Worker taking responsibility for groups of Learners

  • Support young people in their progression
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks as requested by the Head of School
  • Continually look for improvements in your own teaching practice guarding
  • Treat safeguarding of young people as a priority
  • Challenge inappropriate behaviour and de-escalate potential incidents according to company policy
  • Remain on-site at all times during provision and supervise young people in your care
  • Act as Deputy Safeguarding Lead and report all incidents and accidents to the Head of School

Qualifications & Examinations

  • Deliver practical and theory based lessons meeting the expected outcomes of our programmes
  • Deliver functional skills Maths and English as part of a wider teaching team
  • Deliver a PSHE programme as part of a wider teaching team
  • Tutor using a variety of teaching methods taking into account a range of learning styles
  • Develop and maintain Lesson Plans
  • Assess learners assignments
  • Internally Verify learners assignments
  • Invigilate external assessments as required
  • Manage programme budgets and order resources in a timely manner

  • Work towards national qualifications for tutors?
  • Commitment to complete mandatory CPD each year, attend 5 days staff training days

Job Types:

Salary:
£25,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
