The award winning Hyper Acute Stroke team at Stepping Hill hospital is looking for a healthcare assistant to come and join our successful team

Ward A10 is a 28 bedded Hyper acute stroke unit incorporating high dependency beds, assessment beds for newly admitted patients direct from the HASU ED and some short term rehabilitation beds.

Our sister stroke ward E1 IS A 30 bedded integrated stroke unit. The stroke patients get transferred to E1 from A10 for ongoing stroke rehabilitation.
Both wards are areas that are constantly developing with excellent learning and development opportunities.

The teamwork between the medical, nursing and allied health professionals ensures the constant delivery and focus on high quality patient care.

We are able to also offer rotational contracts throughout the 2 units upon request.

As a Health Care Assistant, you will be expected to assist patient's in meeting their activities of daily living under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities:

Communications

  • To communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, under the supervision of a registered nurse, to provide safe discharge.
  • To carry out routine administrative/telephone related tasks.
  • To communicate effectively when giving/receiving verbal and written information.
Responsibility for Patient Care

  • Under the supervision of a registered nurse to assist with patient care activities.
  • To maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  • To carry out any tasks required to maintain the safety, cleanliness and tidiness of the ward area.
  • To carry out duties as required, meeting all aspects of ward catering.
  • To carry out routine household management/maintenance activities.
  • To maintain patient dignity.
  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals in order to provide patient's with exceptional care.


The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trust's policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.

If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary.

In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
