What you will be doing

The role of a Business Apprentice within BAE Systems Maritime Services, Product & Training Services involves a wide range of activities.

Working with our highly skilled and dedicated employees, including fellow apprentices, you will undertake placements in business functions such as Finance, Supply Chain, Commercial and Project Control, supporting the efficient running of departments throughout the business.


Specific activities could include:


The Business Advanced Apprenticeship is typically 24 months (2 years) and aims to provide a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours, which can be gained working within the organisation and its processes.

You will gain understanding in the way BAE Systems operates and our complex stakeholder relationships, which you will be required to interact with on a day-to-day basis.

Through training and work placements, in a variety of different functions, you will gain exposure to real challenges that support our business, gaining a firm grounding in operations and processes.

The role is one ideally suited to enthusiastic individuals who have a thirst for knowledge, a desire to learn, enjoy working in a team, can work on their own initiative and have excellent communication skills.


What Qualification will you get?

  • Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Certificate
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English (If not previously achieved)
  • HNC/D Business Management or equivalent

Our highly skilled teams design, develop, support and maintain a wide range of complex equipment. This includes Spearfish, one of the most powerful and capable wire guided torpedoes on the market.

Currently undergoing a major upgrade programme, Spearfish will soon benefit from further sophisticated advances in its homing, warheads, tactical and fuelling systems, as well an upgraded guidance link.

Then there's Artisan, the 3D radar that can identify a target the size of a tennis ball, travelling at a speed of more than 2000 miles an hour more than 25 kilometres away
