Description
Patient/Client Care
- the post holder will be responsible under the guidance of a registered practitioner for supporting the work of the Physiology Service, the Sleep Services and the general nurse clinics. This will include preparing and working with equipment used by patients as therapy for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea.

IT Administration
- the post holder will be expected to use both computerised and paper-based information systems and have knowledge of patient pathways relevant to the role, keep accurate records in both written format and on databases, have the ability to work with detailed information e.g. excel spreadsheets. Be able to share information accurately with Registered Practitioners as appropriate. Be able to manage referrals, book appointments, outcome clinics and manage access plans appropriately.

Financial and Physical Resources
- responsibility for use of resources within the department, stock checking and requests to order stock. Responsibility for preparation of equipment, for example CPAP machines and masks for patient use. Ability to administer requested tests in accordance with the patient pathway. Ability to be responsible for checking equipment used is in date. Responsibility for recording financial information on a spreadsheet or database. The ability to keep audit data.


Key Tasks:

Booking of new and follow up appointments for patients.

Outcoming of specific clinics to ensure ongoing care for patients in the designated pathway.

Management of Access Plans and ensuring that designated clinics run full rather than with empty spaces

Develop a working knowledge of clinics and maintaining an overview of waiting times.

Preparation of paperwork and equipment for sleep clinics, both virtual assessment clinic and CPAP set up.

Order, receive and distribute stock within the department.

Ensure flow of CPAP machines and consumables through the department to facilitate treatment of patients.

Develop a working knowledge of CPAP machines and consumables associated with CPAP treatment.

Maintenance of the pulse oximeters and downloading of data, giving this data to the relevant clinician.

Policy and Service Development - ability to formulate ideas and improvements to services

Research and Development - take part in departmental audit and testing of equipment.

To maintain patient safety through rigorous and consistent compliance with Trust policies.
