Our client, a busy manufacturing business with a production facility in South Tyneside, are looking to recruit a Health and Safety Officer on a Permanent Basis, To act as the organisation's competent person for Health and Safety & Environmental matters as defined by the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.


Areas of Responsibility:


  • To work proactively with managers to establish and maintain a system that promotes a culture of safe working practices across the organisation. To assist managers, implement Health & Safety systems and procedures to meet specific requirements, such as accident reporting and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) in a consistent and effective manner.
  • Ensure all contracting employees are compliant and work in accordance with site procedures.
  • To carryout audits to evaluate the effectiveness of Health, safety & Environmental systems, and procedures, identify and implement improvements.
  • Investigate and to assist others to investigate the circumstances and causes of accidents and take necessary steps to prevent a recurrence.
  • To ensure routine Health & Safety activities and checks are carried out.

Skills & Experience required for the role:

Education/Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Diploma or higher/similar.
  • Chartered member of IOSH (or working towards)

Experience

  • Good knowledge of ISO45001, ISO14001 and REACH.
  • Management of emergency procedures.
  • Support of Crisis situations
  • CRISIS Management
  • COSHH.

Hours of work:

Monday to Friday / 39 hours per week


Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent


Salary:
£30,000.00-£33,000.00 per year
