Role Overview


Forming a key part of the Architecture, Digital and Data team, this is a rare and exciting opportunity to join Caledonian MacBrayne's digital engineering team.

In-house development expertise is seen as a key enabler for Caledonian MacBrayne, and the engineering team currently provide data infrastructure and services to support a growing number of specialist use cases throughout our business.

To extend our capabilities we are now seeking a Power Platform Engineer to drive best-in-class adoption and develop methods to improve the client experience through the implementation of Power Platform capabilities.

The Power Platform Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, automating, and scaling the system design, system administration and system deployment to deliver best-in-class services using Azure and the Power Platform.


Functional Responsibilities/Key Tasks

  • Design endtoend solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI and that improve collaboration, productivity, and knowledge sharing.
  • Work with internal clients, PMO and IT leadership to form and gain approval of business change requests to undertake development initiatives.
  • Work with business analysts and key client stakeholders to ensure robust requirements capture. o Develop PoC's, pilots and demonstrators with a failfast mindset.
  • Verify software solutions meet production acceptance standards.
  • Provide expert level support services for the most complex issues related to Power Platform elevated from the CFL IT Operations Desk and troubleshoot and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrate thought leadership across the Microsoft Power Platform, architecture, capabilities, implementation requirements, integrations, and future roadmaps.
  • Maintain consistent, quality documentation including SOP and runbook documentation to meet ongoing operations and business continuity requirements
  • Work closely with project managers and architects to implement reliable, manageable, and secure solutions; participating in special projects where required.

  • Data innovation. You can investigate emerging trends in datarelated approaches, performing horizon scanning for the organisation and introducing innovative ways of working.
  • Data modelling. You understand the concepts and principles of data modelling and can produce, maintain and update relevant data models for specific business needs.
  • Data integration design. You can develop fitforpurpose, resilient, scalable and futureproof data services to meet user needs. You have a demonstrable understanding of how to expose data from systems (for example, through APIs).
  • Data integration standards. You can establish benchmarks, and you keep abreast of best practice in the industry and across Caledonian MacBrayne. You know how to keep those standards up to date and ensure adherence to them.
