PURPOSE OF THE JOB:


  • To assist the Recycling Officer in the administration, organisation, promotion, consultation, installation, operation and monitoring of kerbside, estate and bring site recycling schemes [1]within Hackney.

The postholder will have lead responsibility and accountability for the following:


  • STRATEGIC THINKING AND PLANNING
  • Assist the Recycling Officer to implement the Council's Waste and Recycling Strategy, service development and the achievement of Council, departmental and customer objectives in regard to Recycling and Waste Minimisation.
  • To assist in the implementation of action plans that translates the Council's overall strategic objectives into operational initiatives to ensure that the Council meets its statutory requirements and local targets with regard to Recycling and Waste Minimisation.
  • To operate performance review mechanisms to monitor extent of progress and achievement of objectives and goals.

MANAGING SERVICES AND DELIVERY

  • To organise own work processes within a predetermined framework to deliver on time and to agreed quality standards.
  • To assess and prioritise personal work and resources to ensure that service targets are met.
  • To understand customer and service needs and to contribute to the service planning process.
  • To pursue performance improvement; to suggest positive alterations to improve service to achieve tasks and to benefit customers.
  • To respond promptly and positively to customer requirements.
should this be just for street level dry recycling or can we keep it more broad?

Should these be kept quite specific to the main work streams planned until Nov 2023, or kept general and open ended?
