The Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) will support the Lead for Professional Practice and A-EQUIP in developing a framework to support full implementation of the A-EQUIP (Advocating for Education and Quality Improvement) model.

This model provides a continuous improvement process that builds upon personal and professional resilience, enhances quality of care, and supports preparedness for registered midwives/nurses in appraisal and professional revalidation.


The aim is that this continuous improvement process of the "A-EQUIP" model will become an intrinsic part of everyone's job, every day, in all parts of the system.

Thus, the post holder will assist the Trust by implementing the elements of the A-EQUIP model utilising the guidance issued by NHS England in April 2017.


To work in collaboration with the Lead for Professional Practice and A-EQUIP, Lead PMA and fellow sessional PMAs/PNAs, to support the workforce by utilising the components of the A-EQUIP model; utilising their highly developed communication skills to employ the principles of Restorative Clinical Supervision to increase staff resilience, and to improve care for patients and their families.
