The Palace of Westminster is synonymous with UK Parliament and has become a global symbol of democracy.

It is a Grade I listed building, part of a UNESCO World Heritage site, and one of the most famous buildings in the world.


The UK Parliament has two Houses that work on behalf of UK citizens to check and challenge the work of Government, make and shape effective laws, and debate and make decisions on the big issues of the day.

Both Houses, the House of Lords and the House ofCommons, are supported by dedicated, politically impartial individuals across a wide range of professions, alongside the Parliamentary Digital Service who provide our IT and digital needs.


Located within the House of Lords and reporting directly to the House of Lords Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Estates and Facilities will lead the Department of Facilities which comprises 200 staff and will be responsible for estate and facilitiesmanagement services which support the effective running of the House of Lords, including estates and programmes of capital works; accommodation and office services; catering and retail services.

They will personally act as the Senior Responsible Owner forkey projects up to £150m in value and drive effective project leadership across House staff.

They will also play a key leadership role in health and safety within Parliament, a top organisational priority.


This Director will also work jointly with the Managing Director of Strategic Estates in the House of Commons for shared works projects affecting both Houses.
